Holiday Craft Fair 2012

Stop by the Spanaway Lake High School craft fair Saturday November 3 from 9-5, and Sunday November 4, 2012 from 10-3 and purchase some artwork by Ruth!  She is hard at work making cards, Christmas ornaments and other works of art to sell. Thanks for your support!

Acrylic Abstract

Ruth worked with local artist Rebecca Westeren in learning new techniques this year with acrylics and palette knife.  This is one of our favorites that she created from these lessons.

Experimenting with Color and Shapes

Ruth has been working on getting items ready for the fall bazaar. She has been experimenting with some new encaustic colors as well as abstract designs.  Don't worry, for those of you who love her nature scenes, she has plenty of those as well! Here are some note cards and 5x7 pieces of art:

New Encaustic Methods

Ruth spent time this weekend with John Vandebrooke, PNW encaustic artist at Gallery North in Edmonds.

New techniques in encaustic learned include the Asian, embossed and  and water color styles.

Palette Knife Creations

Ruth has been learning various palette knife techniques from another local artist. This one is was done with acrylic paint.

Open House and Boat Parade This Saturday!

If you are near Gig Harbor, WA this Saturday, December 10, 2011, stop by the gallery For Art's Sake for their open house from 3-7PM.  Ruth will be there meeting visitors along with other artists.  The Gallery is also having their annual ornament sale to benefit a local charity. All ornaments are $2-$10.
The gallery is a perfect spot to watch the Gig Harbor Annual Holiday Boat Parade at 5:00PM as well.
